Afghani taxi driver with 7 warnings from NZTA since 2010 sent a notice from NZTA of their Proposal to Decline his application for Transport (Goods) Service Licence,  Passenger Endorsement and his Small Passenger Service Licence for Not being a Fit and Proper Person to hold such licences. However after a 3-hour interview  with barrister Melanie Coxon analysing his driving history and offering explanations for each traffic infraction and her preparing helpful written submissions outlining various health and other hardships faced by his family since they immigrated from Afghanistan and how he intended to improve his driving habits in the future, the NZTA relented and gave him a second chance and P Endorsement and other licences back.

Hi Melanie and the rest of the team, I was planning to email you as I walked home last night because the relief I felt was enormous. Everybody was busy or out when I left your office and I was keen to thank you so much for helping me get the limited licence, despite the wild card judge derailing things. Yes I got a call back with a reference number and I was able to get the temporary licence yesterday. Hi Melanie, Sorry it has taken so long to finally write you this thank you email. We would like to THANK YOU for all the hard work that you did on Paul's court case. Because of the effort you put into his case and your knowledge about the legal system he had a favourable outcome which has meant him being able to be at home with his family. Paul was apprehensive about choosing a solicitor from Central Auckland because his case was going to be held at the Manukau District court, he was told by someone that he should choose a solicitor from around South Auckland who is familiar with the Manukau courts and also particularly be well known to the judges. Well luckily I was the one who had to find him a solicitor, I searched the internet looking for a good solicitor and from your website advertisement and the testimonials on there you seemed very experienced and also your fees were reasonable. We thought with the chance of a prison sentence looming over his head that home detention would be a godsend. Well we were surprised and rapt when the judge gave him 90 hours community service and he didn’t even get any fines just court costs which I think were $50. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done and we have recommended you to others and would definitely contact you again if we were to ever require your services. "That reflects the fulfillment of a public demand for legal services of this nature, including its lower cost, efficiency and ease of access.

I am pleased to reply back as I now have my Court Order Signed by the Judge on Tuesday 19th July, went straight to AA paid my Licence fee and are well aware of carrying my Log Book, temporary Licence and Court Order shall i be stopped by a Police Officer.  Thanks so much it came just at the right time where my hours and shifts change and i don't have to rely on hitching a ride to and from work.

Thanks for your help in getting my Limited Work Licence,  and I shall pass on information to my work colleagues should anybody fall into the same boat as me. Losing your licence is just not worth it.
